Emily Gallup, Founder and Executive Director
Emily founded Giving Hope as a local campaign in 2010. She graduated with her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Pittsburg State University in 2018, and currently attends Avila University, where she is working towards her Master of Science in Counseling Psychology. A spirited and energetic activist, Emily is a professional public speaker specializing in reducing stigmas surrounding mental health, and suicide prevention. Notable works include speaking at the 2016 Kansas Youth Suicide Prevention Conference, XClusive Empire Productions' 2019 Autism Benefit, and at the 2020 New York Fashion Week for Pozitive Vibez on the Runway. During these stressful and unprecedented times, Emily has moved her speaking platform remotely, and has been able to speak on international radio show Martay in the Morning, as well as starting a mental health series here. Emily currently works as an admissions coordinator with Heartland Behavioral Health in Nevada, MO. In her free time, Emily enjoys playing with her 2 dogs, Lexie and JoJo, traveling, and running.
Valerie Gallup, Director of Public Relations
Valerie Gallup is Director of Public Relations for Giving Hope: A Campaign for Suicide Prevention. She has a BA in Communication from William Jewell College, and owned eSolutions By Valerie, a real estate marketing company. Valerie brings her unique skills as a successful marketing specialist, a former radio personality and a voice over specialist, and a parent to a suicide survivor to this position. In addition, she worked on marketing and sales for 50 Hoops: National Prostate Cancer Awareness.
Valerie is Wife to Darren and Mother to Emily, Matthew and Michael. She lives in Warsaw, MO and is a retired substitute school teacher. Her spare time playing with her dogs and her chickens. She is excited to support the effort to reduce suicide rates through education and positive psychology.
