Stay.
Okay, so maybe reading through the list of alternatives didn't work. We get it; That's fine. We understand that sometimes, the anxiety and depression and the hopelessness are so all-consuming that trying to find a distraction seems absolutely impossible. But here's just a few reasons why you should stay.
- You are here for a reason. Go find it.
- Your family loves you. Even if you're fighting, they still love you.
- The weather is absolutely beautiful.
- A shelter animal needs a home, and animals help fight depression.
- You haven't done that thing you wanted to do when you were 8 years old. Don't let your kid-self down, and go do it.
- Your friends will miss you.
- If you have a job, your boss and coworkers will have an empty seat that reminds them of you every day. If you don't have a job, someone out there is looking for an employee just like you.
- Your kids will be scarred for life. If you don't have kids, you are taking away the opportunity to give life and bring something beautiful into this world.
- You haven't finished writing your life story yet.
- Who will your best friend text when they're having a bad day?
- Maybe you're the person who is going to cure cancer, or Alzheimer's, or convince scientists that Pluto really is a planet.
- Something you are doing in your life seems small to you, but is the reason someone else has decided to stick around.
- When someone close to an individual commits suicide, they are more likely to do it, too. That might mean your little brother, your mother, or your best friend dies, too.
- You never took your dream vacation.
- You haven't written your award-winning novel yet.
- Someone loves you.
- You made it this far. You can go another day, another week, another year.
